ST. LOUIS BRASS
Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 — 8pm

Having presented a brass quintet only once in LFCM’s forty-four year history, we figured a thirty-eight year hiatus is long enough. The St. Louis Brass is the same age as LFCM, and has performed over 500 engagements. The group began as an off-shoot of the St. Louis Symphony brass section, and now tours internationally to promote its nine recordings. Known for their educational outreach and commissions, the St. Louis Brass programs presents a mixed classical program with narration and unique interpretations.

PARIS PIANO TRIO
(Les Musiciens)

Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 — 8pm

Last November, Mayor Beutler bestowed honorary Lincoln citizenship to the Paris Piano Trio. We are planning another “homecoming” to hear this ensemble, considered one of the finest piano trios in Europe. The members have played together for over forty years since their days as students at the Paris Conservatory, bringing a richness and ensemble finesse not often witnessed.

They are one of America's foremost piano quartets, playing in concert halls throughout the country and in Europe. This accomplished ensemble has been repeatedly engaged by major chamber music presenters, and hailed by the public and press. This will be their fourth visit to Lincoln; we last heard them in 2002. Their recordings include Dvóřak and Schumann on the MusicMasters label and the two Fauré piano quartets on Pickwick.

YING STRING QUARTET
Saturday, Apr. 18, 2009 at 8pm

They first charmed us in 1995 – young musicians fresh from their residency in rural Jesup, Iowa. We heard them again during the last season and are fortunate to have them back. Since their first visit, they have acquired an international reputation and are now quartet-in-residence at the Eastman School of Music. They continue to develop ways of making artistic and creative expression an essential part of everyday life. Among their current projects in this direction is an innovative visiting residency at Symphony Space in New York City connecting music with other art forms, including dance, poetry, and film.
